About the role
As the Assistant Project Manager working on a Thames Water contract you will sit in the Delivery Team and will support the division with the function in the finance Field.
Below is an outline of your main duties, relevant skills, experience and training needed for the role:
- Reporting to the client and striving to meet their needs. They should ensure the smooth running of the project and work closely with the Programme Manager / Project Manager.
- Ensure the safe, efficient and compliant completion of work under his/her control.
- Be able to prepare and produce project RAMS.
- Ensure best practice is shared across all projects, and shares resource where necessary with other workstreams.
- Ensure that his/her team is continually driving to improve their performance, and that new ideas and innovation are encouraged and developed.
- Ensuring that all plant, materials and subcontract resource is managed and on site as needed
- Report to the Programme/Project Manager/Client weekly on the status of the Project.
- Ensuring the requirements of the Job Packs and Team Packs are being followed.
- Checking training certification and competence.
- Complete and submit site audits and close out actions arising. Completion and submission of Hazard spots.
- Complete PPE checks including head protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, gloves, High visibility clothing. Other PPE as required by task.
- Ensure jobs meet all environmental standards
- Ensure compliance with NRSWA notices and permit conditions.
- Checking of signing, lighting and guarding to ensure compliance with the NRSWA (red book).
- Ensure all permit conditions are met.
- Dealing with all customer issues in accordance with the protocol.
- Day-to-day liaison with the Project Manager regarding complaints & queries.
- Respond to the Escalations team in accordance with the prescribed timescales
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of the contract standards.
- Ensure water quality standards are maintained, ensuring pipe ends are sealed, storage of materials, chloros, usage etc.
- Ensure the data integrity of all jobs completed including random dip testing of data including but not limited to; serial numbers (bar codes), co-ordinates, photograph quality on route and task stop-starts times etc.
- Ensure where possible production rates are met reporting any issues or slippages to their manager.
- Ensure all gangs are completing all data fields on the system and posting the required photographs.
- Ensure all project data and evidence is collected, collated and correctly stored.
- Jeopardy management of jobs prioritising jobs with limited SLA days remaining
- Development and maintenance of key reports to monitor and drive performance
- Ensure the day-to-day compliance management including problem solving & resolution of issues.
- Ensure jobs are health, safety, quality and environmentally compliant in accordance with legislations, procedures and standards.
- Ensure any issue or problem encountered are notified to / escalated to your line manager.
- Promote the highest levels of integrity within the business, demonstrate professionalism and uphold the code of conduct at all times.
- Engage with Contractors and Highway authorities where needed.
About You:
- Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction
- Management training such as Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5 or equivalent
- NEBOSH National Certificate (General or Construction)
- SMSTS

Senior Quantity Surveyor
The role
An exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established contractor in the South West working on their Sout West Water framework.

About you
If you have extensive commercial experience within a contractor environment, please get in touch. You should also have a strong commercial awareness and experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.

- Contribute to the weekly and monthly cost value reconciliation process by supplying accurate and timely data for informed decision-making.
- Effectively manage cash flow by maximising income and reducing exposure to work in progress.
- Identify, price, and negotiate variations to the contract scope in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Oversee the engagement of subcontracts at appropriate rates and terms, ensuring administration aligns with company procedures and contractual requirements, and reflects the value and risk of the subcontracted works.

Site Engineer
My client is a well-established company who are delivering a complex and multi-disciplinary civils and utilities project in Leiston, East Anglia and they’re looking to expand their team with skilled Site Engineers. The scope of works is wide-ranging, covering earthworks, drainage, paving, building construction, and the installation of structural steel and concrete, as well as ductile iron pipework and equipment racking.
Acting as Principal Contractor and undertaking much of the work through self-delivery, the role demands a strong understanding of engineering principles, on-site execution, and compliance in highly regulated environments. You will play a key role in ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the correct technical and quality standards.
- You should be able to carry out setting out and engineering duties as directed by the Site Manager, ensuring works are delivered to specification and design.
- Oversee technical quality and installation standards through inspection and test plans, ensuring compliance with relevant specifications.
- Monitor site quality control procedures and assist in resolving engineering and technical issues as they arise.
- Support safe site operations by ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures.
- Ensure equipment and instrumentation is properly calibrated and maintained.
- Input into programme updates, KPIs, material reconciliation, and reporting, supporting efficient delivery and cost control.
- Contribute to planning and daily site management, liaising with site teams and subcontractors.
- Maintain understanding of and compliance with project management systems, including the Construction Phase H&S Plan, Environmental and Quality Plans.
If you’re a degree-qualified (or equivalent) civil engineer with hands-on experience in the civils or utilities sector this could be a great role for you. You should be confident in setting out, surveying, managing quality, and producing inspection and test plans. A CSCS Card and Full UK Driving Licence are also required.
You’ll need a solid grasp of CDM regulations, health and safety, and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. Strong communication, planning and organisational skills are essential.
Ideally, you’ll have or be working towards chartership (ICE, CIOB, CIHT or APM) and hold additional qualifications such as SMSTS/SSSTS, Temporary Works Supervisor, or training in Confined Spaces and NRSWA. Experience with major civil engineering schemes, deep excavations, or complex builds is a strong advantage.

Site Agent
Due to the award of a new scheme in North West London, our client, an award winning Regional Contractor have the need for an experienced Site Agent to oversee these works which include a Gas Main Diversion and associated heavy civils works (deep excavations, concrete etc).
Based from site offices, your duties will include preparation of site paperwork incluing RAMs, WPPs, Task Briefings etc, Planning of works, Procurement of Plant & materials, Overseeing Contractors on site and reporting/attending meetings.
To be considered for this role, you will have a minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering and hold SMSTS and First Aid certification to your name. You will have experience in heavy civils and ideally Utilities gained within the Main Contracting environment with HS2 experience also an advantage.

SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR
Due to an increase in workload within their Water sector in the South West, our client, an award winning Regional Contractor have the need for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major scheme that they have just secured.
Ther project itself involves 75km of pipelines including pumping stations, reservoirs & water treatment works so it is a very interesting project and one that is due to end in 2030!
The role itself will include Procurement of Contractors, Managing Sub Contractor Accounts, Issuing Payments, CVRs, Variations and Claims.

PROJECT MANAGER
My client, an award winning Utilities contractor in the UK requires a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager to oversee their newly appointed Scottish & Southern Electricity Network partnership.
These works will focus on critical network improvements covering the towns and cities of Reading, Basingstoke, Southampton, and Portsmouth. The works themselves will mainly involve building new substations, completing cable replacements and upgrading the area’s existing assets.

This role will be working for one of the largest privately owned construction firms in the UK and they are looking for a Civils Supervisor working within the Waste Network working on projects throughout London.
The role as a supervisor, you will oversee up to three teams working on minor sewer improvement projects throughout London.

Our client, a Tier 1 Contractor who turn over in excess of £3bn and are part of one of the largest Construction Groups in the world are seeking to secure the services of an experienced Procurement Manager to assist with recent Water Tenders that they are working on.
The works are predominantly major Water Treatment Works Upgrades and they are focussing on the Civil Engineering and Construction aspects.
Duties will include managing the overall tender processes, negotiating/finalising the terms and conditions of subcontracts and bespoke subcontracts, evaluate the reliability of tenderers to enhance cost accuracy and report forecasted value of Procurement to Project Control.
