Due to an increase in workload on a major pipeline scheme valued at over £40m, our client, a top Regional Contractor have the need for a Senior Engineer to support these works which includes Earthworks/Deep Excavations, Pipeline Install and other associated Civils works.

Based from site offices, the daily duties will include Preparation of RAMs and Task Briefs, Overseeing Contractors on site, Health & Safety, Daily Reporting and attending regular meetings with the Stakeholders and Senior Management.

To be considered for this role, you will have a minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering and hold SMSTS, First Aid and ideally EUSR although this training can be provided. You will also have all round Heavy Civils experience with Water also a major advantage.
In return, a top day rate is on offer which is Outside IR35 and comes with a long term contract which will take you well into 2024 and likely beyond.

Section Engineer

Our client, a top Regional Main Contractor are seeking the services of a Section Engineer to join their team on a large Pipeline scheme in Peterborough. The works are valued at circa £40m and include Earthworks, Drainage and Pipeline Installation along with other associated Civils works.

The daily duties will include assisting with the creation of RAMs, Overseeing Contractors on site, Daily Reporting and Health & Safety.

To be considered for this, you will have a minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering and hold SMSTS and First Aid certification with SEATS ideal but can be provided. You will also have heavy Civil Engineering experience gained with Main Contractors with Utilities/Water experience ideal also.

In return, a top day rate is on offer along with a long term contract that will go into 2024 for the right person!

General Foreman

Planning Engineer – Sellafield

About the job
As a Planning Engineer / Scheduler, you will be an integral part of the Costain Project control’s function providing discipline level support within a matrix organisation to include client interface.

Utilising your knowledge and expertise in the Planning discipline you will be responsible for program generation and schedule maintenance, with opportunity to contribute towards continuous improvements of local practices and PMO standards.

As an integral member of the Project Controls Team, you are required to be planning focused and confident in managing your portfolio of assigned projects, as well as working effectively within a multi-disciplined environment/ team.

You will be joining a growing consultancy team working on a variety of contracts, complexities within multiple sectors and agile environments.

Candidates who are considered dual role SQEP (Cost & Planning discipline) will be also considered against vacancy requirements.
Individuals with a proven track record of pre and post contract award (ITT / BID process) and life-cycle project management execution is preferable.

Key responsibilities
Adherence to Health & Safety policies and compliance with company standard operating procedures.

Collection and verification of data sets to build approved detailed baselines to include Basis of Schedule generation.

Facilitation of Interactive Planning sessions (IAP) with project stakeholders to promote collaborative working relationships and to secure a quality product.

Application of activity and appropriate coding structures (WBS, OBS, CBS) in the propriety software Primavera P6.

Exchange of electronic planning data with Internal and supply chain departments and client

Information gathering / Liaison with all functional delivery departments to include supply chain interface regarding determination of project progress/performance claims and validation of same.

Application of appropriate level detailed schedules (up to a not excluding level 5 detail).

Introduction and analysis of approved changes into the execution program.

Production and distribution of reports including Earned Value Monitoring (EVM) and forecasting.

Monitoring and corrective action of approved commercial and Project KPIs.

Attendance at relevant project, progress, and planning meetings

HSQE Advisor

The HSQE Advisor will be present on Projects in and around the North East of England with their regional office in Newcastle

You would report to the HSQE Midland & North Manager based in Solihull so occasional travel to Solihull would also be required

You must have driving licence (less than 6 points), CSCS card, PTS card as the role would involve visiting civils and rail projects.

IOSH membership and NEBOSH General/Construction would be advantageous but not essential

Day to day working would be with their Delivery Manager and Labour Managers based in Newcastle to fulfil their requirements

This role would be to support Client H&S teams with site visits, client meetings, and support the operational teams etc.

Appointed Person/Temporary Works Co-Ordinator

Due to the recent award of a number of major Utility Diversion works on HS2 projects in the Aylesbury, our client has the requirement for an Appointed Person/Temporary Works Co-Ordinator for lifting activities on these works.

Duties will primarily revolve around drafting of lift plans & temporary works designs, approvals, related doc control elements through to the delivery of those items on site.

To be considered you will come from an Engineering background and MUST hold A61 Blue Card Appointed Person and Temporary Works Co-Ordinator certification. You will come from a Main Contractor background and be in a position such as Section Engineer currently with the above certs and experience to hand whilst working on Civils/Utilities related works.

X2 Site Engineers

Our client, a world renowned Main Contractor have a major Tunneling scheme in South East London that they require 2 freelance Site Engineers for with works below:

  • All suspended internals works (walkways, landing)
  • Installation of the shaft cover slab & ventilation structure
  • Construction of shaft enclosure walls
  • Follow dismantling of an 60m long, 20m wide and 17m high acoustic enclosure.

Duties will include:

  • Coordinate day to day and shift to shift activities and logistics to permit the continual execution of the works on your section
    – Ensure compliance with all Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) issues on site.
    – Control your section of the work according to agreed programmes, approved RAMS and ITP’s ensuring relevant QAQC records are taken and processed.
  • Manage labour operatives and Subcontractors on site
    – Ensure all materials and equipment for the works are available
    – Work on an 12hr rotating shift pattern, 5 days per week (Days / Nights) & cover Saturday work where required.

To be considered, you will have previous experience as civil site engineer, minimum of 3 years and have working knowledge of construction procedures and working methods within the Infrastructure sector ideally within Tunneling but general Civils will be considered.

Varying rates on offer for days, nights and the 12 hour shifts and a 12 month contract on offer for the chosen candidates.

Sub Agent

I have been given a freelance Sub Agent role by one of my top clients who are working on £370m Tunnelling scheme in Snowdonia which I am sure you will know about.
They have a section of works to Construct Workers Accommodation including Roads, Drainage, Service Installation and Construction of the actual Accommodation and require a Sub Agent to oversee these works.

Duties include:

  • Preparation of RAMs
  • Overseeing Sub Contractors,
  • Material Ordering,
  • Reporting etc.

This is for 6-9 months initially and will likely lead on to further works with the project running until 2029.
Rate is circa £400-425 Per Day and is Outside IR35.

Due to the recent award of a major Heavy Civils and Pipeline scheme in Peterborough, our client, a top Regional Contractor has the need for a P6 Planner to support these works.
The project itself is valued at circa £40m and includes Deep Excavations, Drainage, Pipeline Installation etc.

Based from home with visits to their offices 1/2 days per week, you will be responsible for assisting with building the Programme and Planning Change and Claims.

To be considered you will ideally come from an Engineering background and have worked your way into Planning. You will have heavy Civils and will be fully au fait with Primavera P6.
In return, the successful applicant will be rewarded with a top day rate that is outside IR35 and will have a contract that is ongoing and could be very long term! This also comes with Hybrid working with visits to site so flexibility is on offer.
