HEAD OF COMMERCIAL

Job Summary:

As the Head of Commercial you will oversee and manage the estimating, cost, procurement and contractual aspects of the project from initiation to close-out for Euston Station (HS2) on the joint venture with Mace and Dragados.

Key responsibilities:

  • Advise the client and project team on all commercial issues effecting the project
  • Oversee the development of contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and sub- contractors and agree these with the client as necessary.
  • Develop and implement the procurement and contracting strategy for the delivery of the project
  • Review and develop incentivisation arrangements as appropriate
  • Agree spend profiles which match the project schedule with the client
  • Oversee the reporting against spend profiles for the project on a monthly basis and coordinate with the Client finance department for payments
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the Incentive Target for the project
  • Oversee the change management process, consult with other functions to assess changes and risks to the overall project out-turn
  • Manage the production of a monthly consolidated project-wide cost / expenditure report
  • Deliver capex and opex forecasts for the Project
  • Overview the procurement of services relating to the Project and ensure that the supply chain strategy, policy and procedures are implemented
  • Manage the administration of contracts for implementation of the project
  • Oversee the monthly valuation process
  • Oversee the development of mitigation plans for potential contractor and supplier claims. Manage the adjudication of claims and make recommendations for settlement
  • Oversee the finalisation of contractor’s accounts and close out contractor contracts for the project
  • Oversee the Construction Partners applications for payment and Early Warning Notices to the Client

Technical Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of commercial management

COMMERCIAL MANAGER

The role:

As the Commercial Manager you will oversee and manage the cost management and contract management aspects of a section of the project from initiation to close-out. This role is working on Curzon St Station.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee procurement and contract award for subcontractors and subconsultants
    Administer contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Manage and supervise commercial staff in the team
  • Administer incentivisation arrangements as appropriate
  • Oversee the assessment of EWN’s and compensation events
  • Provide regular cash flow forecast of expenditure
  • Report expenditure against the Incentive Target on a monthly basis
  • Manage the change management process consult with other functions to assess changes and risks to the overall project out-turn
  • Produce of a monthly consolidated project-wide cost / expenditure report
  • Manage the monthly valuation process.
  • Manage potential contractor and supplier claims.
  • Manage the adjudication of claims and make recommendations for settlement.
  • Oversee the finalisation of contractor’s accounts and close out contractor contracts for the project.
  • Manage the process to raise consultant, supplier or contractor instructions as necessary for signature by approved parties.
  • Manage the financial contingency built into packages and ensure that contingency allowances reflect the current programme position.

 

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:

  • Strong commercial management experience
  • Past experience of major (£100m+) projects
  • Formal qualification RICS

Project Manager

My client are looking for a Project Manager to work within their Maintenance side of the business, reporting into an Operations Manager.  The role will be working on projects they have with the company who manage and maintain the arches across the Network Rail network.


The Project Manager will look after multiple projects (likely 1-4) which have a value of between £10,000 – £1.5 million, the higher the value the less projects you would need to look after.  The Project Manager would have site managers and other subcontractors dependant on the project, the majority of these projects will be in the London area.

You will ideally have some rail experience, but if not, you should have general fit out background and any exposure to arch works would be advantageous.
You would need to have a good understanding and application of quality management and be happy with scheduling program of works.

This is a newly created role due to an increase in workload.

HSQE Advisor

The HSQE Advisor will be present on Projects in and around the North East of England with their regional office in Newcastle

You would report to the HSQE Midland & North Manager based in Solihull so occasional travel to Solihull would also be required

You must have driving licence (less than 6 points), CSCS card, PTS card as the role would involve visiting civils and rail projects.

IOSH membership and NEBOSH General/Construction would be advantageous but not essential

Day to day working would be with their Delivery Manager and Labour Managers based in Newcastle to fulfil their requirements

This role would be to support Client H&S teams with site visits, client meetings, and support the operational teams etc.

Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor

My client has an exciting opportunity for a Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in their Wembley office.

As a Railway contractor, they work with some great clients, this is an exciting time to join the business.

Your role is critical to ensuring the commercial success of the multiple rail frameworks, that cover both maintenance and developer services.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Collation and inputting of data to form client application.
  • Liaise with the operational team in organising sabre access and booking requests for faults.
  • Assist with the input of faults into the TLL Maximo database.
  • Assist the checking of sub-contractors applications for payment.
  • Checking sub-contractors applications and signing off against framework rates.
  • Batching and updating fault schedule and issuing to client.
  • Raising payments for sub-contractors for authorisation.
  • Cross checking of time sheets & wages against applications.
  • Liaise with and report to the operational team at Stratford.
  • Assist in obtaining signed off orders and time sheets from the client.
  • Assist with the management and monitoring of crids, PPE, plant and consumables.
  • Day to day clerical duties for all paperwork, including filing, archiving, copying, scanning or as deemed necessary.
  • Assist in the monitor and controlling of transport and fuel costs.

Technical Competency Skills

  • Skills, that will support the delivery of your duties and able to clearly explain tasks and inspire others with varying backgrounds.
