Based from sites in and around London, daily duties will include preparation of Site Paperwork, Ordering Plant & Materials, Overseeing Contractors on site, Report writing and attending regular meetings with the client and stakeholders.

Safe Work Leader 1

SAFE WORK LEADER 1

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE

To lead safe work delivery on rail infrastructure sites, incorporating the responsibility of both the supervision of the physical works being carried out by staff and suppliers, as well as implementing the approved safe system of work (as was historically done by the COSS/PC on site). Undertake Safe Work Leader 1 roles and tasks as set out in Network Rail Rulebook and guidance. To ensure activities are carried out in compliance with all rail industry specific safety standards, procedures and Network Rail Rule Book requirements as well as in line with all Heath and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

Must have at least 5 years rail experience and be familiar with Network Rail Rule Book safety and compliance requirements.
Must be familiar with Rail Procedures and hold a CSCS card.
Must hold current Personal Track Safety (PTS) and Controller of Site Safety (COSS) competences. Protection Controller (PC) and First Aid competence would be an advantage.
Extensive practical experience of setting up and leading safe systems of work including; open line working (Red zone), Fenced and Site Warden protected green zones, and line blockages with additional protection including detonators and Track Circuit Operating Devices (T-CODs).
Holding and being prepared to use HV Competent Person and other safety critical competencies such as Handsignaller, Strapman, lookout and level crossing keeper would be a preferable advantage.
Must have attended a COSS Non-Technical (NTS) Assessment with Network Rail, and achieved at least 80% score.
Must be a clear communicator with an understanding of Supervisory and Site Management responsibilities and duties.
Able to inspire others with enthusiasm, professionalism and stop-think safety behaviours. Leading by example.
Willing to listen to ideas and challenge, as well as to give and receive constructive feedback.
Must be I.T. literate and able to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook etc.)
Must be prepared to train as Safe Work Leader and undergo the industry SWL assessment.
Excellent assertive man management and briefing skills.
Practical working knowledge of civil engineering and building and construction work delivery techniques.
Preferably SMSTS or SSSTS trained
Commitment to work midweek nights and weekend nights depending on work bank.

One of my top client are seeking an Environmental, Sustainability & Consents Manager for a large scale Civils project in North Wales.
Candidate MUST be willing to lodge away due to the remote location of the project

Purpose of the role
To be the Environmental, Consents & Sustainability Manager, working closely with the Project team, stakeholders, and the supply chain.
To manage environmental aspects, ensuring the project is compliant with legal and ISO standards and supporting Environmental Advisers in delivering environmental support to site.  Supporting the Head of HS&E and providing project updates.
Meet the client, stakeholder, legislative other third party and internal requirements on environmental and social standards.
Apply for and manage the secondary consents required for the project.  Develop and maintain the secondary consents register and report regularly on consent status.
Contribute to the sustainability strategy development and implementation in the business’
Support the project in achieving CEEQUAL or other sustainability or environmental award schemes.
The job holder must be able to commit to a flexible workplace, changing construction environment and occasional out-of-hours attendance.

Role Accounatbilities
Liaise with the project site teams and supply chain on site and ensure that Client & Stakeholder environmental and sustainability objectives are met within the required timeframe.
Support Project Manager to maintain strong relationships with the Client, local authorities and frameworks and representing the business within those forums.
Develop communication tools (eg guidance & training materials, newsletters, alerts) to inform personnel & stakeholders as appropriate.
To identify opportunities and gains from projects that can add value for money or deliver the requirements in a more sustainable way.  To assist the designers and engineers in achieving step change and looking to using sustainable materials in the design and construction.
Engage with Procurement team to drive continuous improvement against objectives and client requirements.
Liaise with and support Stakeholder manager in developing community engagement programmes across the business and on individual projects KRL to confirm if required
To help the company deliver its commitments and vision to sites to the appropriate standards including ISO14001, BS50001.
Facilitate internal/external environmental audits.
Assist in developing environmental and sustainability KPI measuring and recording techniques.
Communicate sustainability issues and performance to site teams and senior management.
Report as required on project environmental and sustainability performance.
Capture best practice and produce case studies to share information and improve performance.
Identify opportunities to develop own skills and experience consistent with supporting projects and to continually challenge own practice and development to provide a high-quality support to.
Contribute to winning work when required eg PQQ’s, tenders etc.

Require Project Knowledge
Experience of providing environmental support at an Advisor level on one or multiple project sites.  Experience of providing a consistently high-quality service, with corresponding feedback from Project Managers and Client.
Experience of dealing with Statutory Bodies, Clients, specialists, subcontractors, supply chain etc. and delivering (or being a lead role) in successful applications, schemes, discharging planning conditions and permits as required to undertake works.
Good knowledge of Sustainability and Environmental issues in construction, through experience, training, education.  Willing to undertake further training.  Wiling to lead by example.
Preferably Degree level qualified, must be working towards (or hold) IEMA membership at an appropriate level (or similar).
Flexibility – Ability to support multiple sites, in various general environmental roles.  Ability to manage emergency situations and take control.  Occasional out-of-normal hours work may be required.
Must have a good understanding of the construction process, the desire to understand and work with engineers to find better environmental solutions to issues within the established constraints. 

Quantity Surveyor

Due to a rapid increase in workload within their Rail and LU sectors, our client, a highly reputable Medium Sized Main Contractor are seeking to secure the services of a Quantity Surveyor to support these works which include Station Upgrades, Platform Extensions, MEP and LV works.
Based from their offices in Sidcup (with remote working also available) the daily duties will include overseeing Sub Contractor Accounts, Issuing Payments, Cost Reporting and Variations.
To be considered, you will ideally have a minimum of an HNC in Quantity Surveying and must have experience in London Underground and/or Network Rail related works whilst working within the Main Contracting environment.
In return, a top day rate is on offer (Inside IR35) along with an immediate start and long term contract. There is also flexible working on offer with regard to working from home!

My client has an exciting opportunity for a Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in their Wembley office.

As a Railway contractor, they work with some great clients, this is an exciting time to join the business.

Your role is critical to ensuring the commercial success of the multiple rail frameworks, that cover both maintenance and developer services.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Collation and inputting of data to form client application.
  • Liaise with the operational team in organising sabre access and booking requests for faults.
  • Assist with the input of faults into the TLL Maximo database.
  • Assist the checking of sub-contractors applications for payment.
  • Checking sub-contractors applications and signing off against framework rates.
  • Batching and updating fault schedule and issuing to client.
  • Raising payments for sub-contractors for authorisation.
  • Cross checking of time sheets & wages against applications.
  • Liaise with and report to the operational team at Stratford.
  • Assist in obtaining signed off orders and time sheets from the client.
  • Assist with the management and monitoring of crids, PPE, plant and consumables.
  • Day to day clerical duties for all paperwork, including filing, archiving, copying, scanning or as deemed necessary.
  • Assist in the monitor and controlling of transport and fuel costs.

Project Manager

Due to a number of recent tenders that have come in, our client, a top Regional Civil Engineering Contractor seek to secure the services of an experience Project Manager to initially assist in the tender process then run a £40m Infrastructure scheme in the Oxfordshire region. The works will involve Earthworks, Drainage, Roads, Paving, Utility Diversions and Re-Inforced Concrete works. Based initially from their office in Hertfordshire you will be assisting the Bid Team and providing advice on this and when secure running the project from site ensuring this is completed to time and budget. The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering, SMSTS and First Aid certification to your name. You will also have solid Civil Engineering and Project Management experience in the above areas gained within the Main Contracting environment. Due to an increase in workload within the Rail/LU divisions, our client, a top 10 world renowned Main Contractor seeks to secure the services of 3 Section Engineers for Station Upgrade works in West London. The works are valued at £10m per station with 3 being undertaken and include Platform Extensions, full Station Upgrades and AFA works along with other areas including MEP etc. Based from site offices in West London, you will be responsible for undertaking site paperwork, WPPs etc, management of Sub Contractors on site, ensuring Engineers are setting Out as per Drawings, Health & Safety and attending regular meetings on the progress of the job. To be considered for one of these positions, you will have a minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering and have a proven background in Section Engineering within the Main Contracting environment and on Station Upgrades. You will also have CSCS and ideally SMSTS certification to your name. ICI is required but can be arranged if needed through Solution Recruitment sponsorship.
