SUPERVISORS / FOREMEN

Due to an increase in workload within their Rail division, our client, an award winning Main Contractor are looking to recruit Supervisors/Foremen to work on projects in the Wessex region.
Works will include Embankment Stabilisations, Drainage Upgrades, Platform Extensions, Station Upgrades and Bridge Replacements with locations being Kent, Sussex and Dorset.
Daily duties will include overseeing Contractors on site, Health & Safety, Daily Diary/Reporting and regular Progress Meetings.
To be considered for these roles you MUST hold CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid with a Health & Safety qualification a big advantage. You will also have solid Rail experience gained within the Main Contracting environment.
The locations are varied so lodge will be paid in the form of a rate uplift should you be required to stay away from home on one of the sites.

COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Due to the recent award of a number of Rail contracts in the East Anglia and Southern Regions, our client, a top Main Contractor within the Rail sector has an immediate need for a Commercial Manager to join their expanding team.

Projects are valued anywhere from £1m up to £20m in value and include Station Upgrades, Platform Extensions and Bridge Replacements.

Based from their offices in Central London, you will be responsible for overseeing a Commercial Team including Senior Quantity Surveyors to ensure the projects are run to budget and ultimately making profit. You will also be required to report to Senior Management and attend regular meetings with stakeholders and the Board.

To be considered for this role you will hold a minimum of an HNC in Quantity Surveying and will have worked your way up to your current position as Commercial Manager within the Main Contracting environment and within the Rail sector.

P6 Planner

Due to an increase in workload within their Rail and London Underground divisions, our client, a medium sized, family owned Contractor are seeking the services of a P6 Planner to support projects which include M&E and Comms works at Stations including Paddington and Kings Cross with specifics including Installation of PA and Camera Systems, Trunking and Cable Trays.

Daily duties will include creation of the Programme and updating this using Primavera P6, Cost and Resource Management, Tracing Progress against the Plan and administering Change and Preparation of Monthly Progress Reports in relation to the Project Plan.

To be considered for this role, you MUST have P6 experience and have worked on MEP and Comms related projects, ideally within the Rail/LU sectors.

In return, a top day rate is on offer which is Outside IR35 and comes with an ongoing contract and immediate start for the right individual.

Safe Work Leader 1

SAFE WORK LEADER 1

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE

To lead safe work delivery on rail infrastructure sites, incorporating the responsibility of both the supervision of the physical works being carried out by staff and suppliers, as well as implementing the approved safe system of work (as was historically done by the COSS/PC on site). Undertake Safe Work Leader 1 roles and tasks as set out in Network Rail Rulebook and guidance. To ensure activities are carried out in compliance with all rail industry specific safety standards, procedures and Network Rail Rule Book requirements as well as in line with all Heath and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

Must have at least 5 years rail experience and be familiar with Network Rail Rule Book safety and compliance requirements.
Must be familiar with Rail Procedures and hold a CSCS card.
Must hold current Personal Track Safety (PTS) and Controller of Site Safety (COSS) competences. Protection Controller (PC) and First Aid competence would be an advantage.
Extensive practical experience of setting up and leading safe systems of work including; open line working (Red zone), Fenced and Site Warden protected green zones, and line blockages with additional protection including detonators and Track Circuit Operating Devices (T-CODs).
Holding and being prepared to use HV Competent Person and other safety critical competencies such as Handsignaller, Strapman, lookout and level crossing keeper would be a preferable advantage.
Must have attended a COSS Non-Technical (NTS) Assessment with Network Rail, and achieved at least 80% score.
Must be a clear communicator with an understanding of Supervisory and Site Management responsibilities and duties.
Able to inspire others with enthusiasm, professionalism and stop-think safety behaviours. Leading by example.
Willing to listen to ideas and challenge, as well as to give and receive constructive feedback.
Must be I.T. literate and able to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook etc.)
Must be prepared to train as Safe Work Leader and undergo the industry SWL assessment.
Excellent assertive man management and briefing skills.
Practical working knowledge of civil engineering and building and construction work delivery techniques.
Preferably SMSTS or SSSTS trained
Commitment to work midweek nights and weekend nights depending on work bank.

  • Ensure that the customer is considered at all stage of planning and delivering of your project
  • Ensure projects are delivered to a high quality and service and that projects and deliverables are closed out effectively and in a timely manner
  • Ensure Customer progress meetings are attended by the appropriate personnel and information is presented clearly and professionally
  • Customer feedback is sought at regular intervals. The feedback is to be generally positive in nature, with any areas of concern quickly addressed and improved in subsequent feedback
  • Supplier feedback is sought and is generally positive in nature. Put in place action plans to improve areas identified as a weakness
  • Engaging with local communities to aspire to create a positive impact through our projects
