My client are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team In Farnham working on a recently awarded 5 year framework.  You will play a pivotal role in achieving their vision of delivering brilliant infrastructure solutions whilst developing your career in quantity surveying within a supportive and professional environment.

You will be assisting in the management of commercial responsibilities in order to maximise profit and control costs.

 Here are some of the activities you will be involved in…

  • Produce weekly and monthly cost value reconciliations.
  • Capture and allocate costs and liabilities.
  • Maintain long-term relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Manage opportunities and risks, identifying deviations from working practices.
  • Assist in developing commercial tenders, offers, and contracts.
  • Identify and escalate inappropriate costs.
  • Record and track insurance claims.
  • Maintain accurate contract data and records.
  • Capturing and report direct labour payments; draft and award sub-contracts.

Please get in touch if you have a relevant degree in construction or commercial management and experience in subcontractor management. You should have a strong commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of NEC3 forms of contract, as well as relevant construction and contract law. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with advanced Excel skills.

You should also have the ability to prioritise your own workload, act collaboratively, and inspire others to do the same. Estimator / Senior Estimator

They are looking to expand their Work Winning team with skilled and enthusiastic individuals to deliver various tenders across the UK.

The team are now looking for a Senior Estimator to join them on a permanent basis. You will support with the preparations of detailed and accurate pricing for tenders and assist clients with pricing support for early contractor involvement projects.

You will ensure company governance procedures are followed at all times and work in coordination with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive pricing. You will be required to agree methodologies and outputs for key activities with planners and, where appropriate, with Bid Manager / Design Manger and provide advice to Bid Manager/Design Manager on most cost-effective design options.

The role requires you to produce competitive price using methodologies and outputs etc to suit conditions / situations relevant to the scheme and advise the Bid Manager of sufficiency of client bill of quantity / activity schedule and arrange for full quantity take off or checking as required.

It is essential that you have sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques and of relevant procurement legislation.

The team are now looking for an Underground Works/Preparation Methods Engineer to join their business on a Full Time employed basis

This role is pivotal in the preparation and submission of tenders for large-scale underground construction projects and will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing engineering projects focused on tunnel and underground constructions, ensuring deliverables are met within the specified timelines and budgets.

You will prepare technical proposals and work plans, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies and collaborate with the project management and business development teams to ensure compliance with client requirements.

You will also be required to provide technical support and guidance during pre-bid meetings and client presentations.

Design Engineer (Design Coordination)

The project requires a Design Engineer (Design Coordination) to manage consult design activities and deliverables to ensure they are completed in line with the agreed programme and Client requirements.

You will be the technical lead for the permanent works design on the project unless a Design Manager is present.

You will be responsible for managing and communicating all design queries, comments and information required from design workshops and meetings and keep records accordingly. Within the role you will arrange internal design interface meetings with the construction department and ensure compliance with design management processes as required by the contract.

Within this role, you will be required to have a background or previous experience in design management. Technical knowledge of civil engineering/construction would also be beneficial.

You will have a comprehensive communication and organisation skills and the ability to engage with consultants, clients and other bodies as appropriate.

Quality Engineer

The project requires a Quality Engineer to support the implementing, maintaining and improvement of the Project Management System providing support and advice to the Project team on quality management matters.

You will be required to interpret and advise on quality system requirements for the Project while utilising quality management tools and techniques to promote continuous improvements throughout the Project team. You will coordinate with the Client’s quality management team and undertake internal project audits and supplier audits as and when necessary.

This role requires you to have previous experience of working as a Section Engineer as a minimum and preferably working towards membership to the Chartered Quality Institute and successful completion of lead auditor course (5 day) for ISO 9001.

You must have a thorough understanding of civil engineering construction methodology and a detailed knowledge of assurance and management system issues and a good understanding of process mapping techniques.

Strong practical knowledge and expertise in the implementation and on-going development of management systems, based on recognised standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or BS OHSAS 18001 is beneficial for this role.

The project requires a Surveyor who will be responsible for the monitoring and surveying activities on site in a safe and efficient way.

If this role is for you, you will liaise with the client to check the setting out information being used is the latest available and provide the existing site control to the construction team, and / or establishing site control where required.

The role will require you to ensure data, reports and/or drawings of setting out and as-built surveys are produced accurately and in a timely manner and ensure difficult setting out tasks and dimensional check of elements are delivered with high accuracy requirements.

It is essential that you have a Civil Engineering Degree or similar with at least 3 years of experience. Advanced geodetic surveying and deformation monitoring skills are also required.

You will need to apply technical and practical skills to implement the requirements of drawings and specifications and ensure work is produced within clear guidelines, set goals and strive to achieve required results consistently.

You must have good knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work and have the ability to prioritise objectives and capable of completing work to deadlines.

Quantity Surveyor

I’m working with an excellent client that require a Quantity Surveyor to work within their Rail & Civil Engineering, Asset Management team.

They’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team within a fast-paced rail, civil engineering, and buildings asset management environment, based in Tamworth. This role is a part of the CP7 framework, with a focus on the North West & Central region.

This business unit operates in an active and fast-moving rail, civils, and buildings asset maintenance, management landscape. They manage both reactive and planned maintenance projects across the North West & Central rail network. Their offices in Warrington and Tamworth serve as the headquarters for our operations, where they undertake various types of projects, including the maintenance and repair of bridges, tunnels, structures, stations, embankments, and more.

Role Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in the Framework Delivery team, focusing on local rail maintenance initiatives while also supporting other projects in the region. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the commercial team and providing support to Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers in managing multiple sites efficiently and within budget.
  • Accurately pricing and submitting estimates on time.
  • Resolving pricing queries and issues with clients.
  • Engaging in client communication and relationship management.
  • Coordinating with Site Managers to gather operational information.
  • Managing subcontractors and their performance.
  • Overseeing change management processes and early warnings.
  • Administering contracts (NEC/NR forms).
  • Preparing and reviewing Cost Value Reports (CVRs).
  • Contributing to final account processes.
  • Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a rail and civil engineering environment.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/HND/Degree).
  • Experience with civil engineering projects, including rail, bridges, roads, and structures.
  • Familiarity with rail projects (particularly Network Rail projects or maintenance frameworks).
  • Strong understanding of contractual management with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a contractor organisation.

Senior Site Engineer & Site Engineer

My client requires both a Site Engineer and Senior Engineer to assist them on multiple projects around the Kent area. Ideal background will be Engineers with Highways and heavy civils experience.

  • Setting out using total stations, GPS equipment, and to be able to undertake traditional setting out using profiles, batter rail and pegs
  • Read and review construction drawings
  • Undertake basic take-off’s Raising technical queries with designers and other members of the client team
  • Undertake day to day setting out duties with no supervision
  • Train, manage and mentor Junior Engineers
  • Manage and monitor all site sample / performance testing requirements and maintain records in line with the contract specification.
  • Complete hazard / risk assessments and method statements.
  • Manage the site service plans/ drawings. Issue permits accordingly.
  • Assist the site QS / Project Manager with providing the relevant information for records and claims purposes.

The candidate will require previous civil engineering experience, particularly highways schemes working for a main contractor. Must also have a CSCS card in the appropriate discipline and have a BSc/ HND/ HNC qualification or equivalent. You will require a SSTS card. Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving license.
