Site Engineer

My client is a well-established company who are delivering a complex and multi-disciplinary civils and utilities project in Leiston, East Anglia and they’re looking to expand their team with skilled Site Engineers. The scope of works is wide-ranging, covering earthworks, drainage, paving, building construction, and the installation of structural steel and concrete, as well as ductile iron pipework and equipment racking.

Acting as Principal Contractor and undertaking much of the work through self-delivery, the role demands a strong understanding of engineering principles, on-site execution, and compliance in highly regulated environments. You will play a key role in ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the correct technical and quality standards.

  • You should be able to carry out setting out and engineering duties as directed by the Site Manager, ensuring works are delivered to specification and design.
  • Oversee technical quality and installation standards through inspection and test plans, ensuring compliance with relevant specifications.
  • Monitor site quality control procedures and assist in resolving engineering and technical issues as they arise.
  • Support safe site operations by ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures.
  • Ensure equipment and instrumentation is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Input into programme updates, KPIs, material reconciliation, and reporting, supporting efficient delivery and cost control.
  • Contribute to planning and daily site management, liaising with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Maintain understanding of and compliance with project management systems, including the Construction Phase H&S Plan, Environmental and Quality Plans.

If you’re a degree-qualified (or equivalent) civil engineer with hands-on experience in the civils or utilities sector this could be a great role for you. You should be confident in setting out, surveying, managing quality, and producing inspection and test plans. A CSCS Card and Full UK Driving Licence are also required.

You’ll need a solid grasp of CDM regulations, health and safety, and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. Strong communication, planning and organisational skills are essential.

Ideally, you’ll have or be working towards chartership (ICE, CIOB, CIHT or APM) and hold additional qualifications such as SMSTS/SSSTS, Temporary Works Supervisor, or training in Confined Spaces and NRSWA. Experience with major civil engineering schemes, deep excavations, or complex builds is a strong advantage.

SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

 The Role
We’re seeking an experienced and driven Senior Structural Engineer to lead and deliver a wide range of structural projects from concept through to completion. You will play a key role in both the technical and client-facing aspects of the business, working across residential refurbishments, extensions, and new builds, as well as commercial and mixed-use developments.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of structural projects (steel, concrete, timber, and masonry)
  • Conduct structural assessments, surveys, and reports for domestic and commercial properties

  • Supervise junior engineers and technicians, providing mentorship and technical guidance

SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

My client, a well-established Main Contractor are now looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Quantity Surveyor looking to step up to an SQS to join their team in Cambridgeshire initially working on schemes for the Environment Agency.  You must have experience working on civil engineering schemes including Flood Protection with a main contractor.

You should be

  • Ambitious individual with great communication skills, who is confident with a flexible approach.
  • Demonstrate innovative approaches to problem solving and the ability to negotiate across the various levels of any construction environment.
  • Handle the financial and mathematical demands of the role by possessing impressive numeracy and IT skills.
  • Must have experience working on civil engineering schemes including Flood Protection with a main contractor.
  • Experience as a SQS working with the NEC form of contract.

This role focuses on Reactive Maintenance on the CP7 Framework focused on Asset Management of 100s of Network Rail Stations across the Kent, Sussex and Wessex routes, including London stations such as London Bridge and Waterloo.

Within the Commercial team you will focus primarily on Reactive Fault Measurement and report to the Senior QS, Measurement Team Manager.

Role overview

  • Produces measures for asset maintenance

  • Role involves using schedules of rates and valuing the work, using worksheet, before/during/after photographs, to inform measurements.

PROJECT MANAGER

My client, an award winning Utilities contractor in the UK requires a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager to oversee their newly appointed Scottish & Southern Electricity Network partnership.

These works will focus on critical network improvements covering the towns and cities of Reading, Basingstoke, Southampton, and Portsmouth. The works themselves will mainly involve building new substations, completing cable replacements and upgrading the area’s existing assets.

This role will be working for one of the largest privately owned construction firms in the UK and they are looking for a Civils Supervisor working within the Waste Network working on projects throughout London.
The role as a supervisor, you will oversee up to three teams working on minor sewer improvement projects throughout London.

The role
If you are an experienced Business Development Manager within the Civil Engineering sector.

You will be experienced in establishing and maintaining regular dialogue with new and existing customers and identify, assess and cultivate new client leads/opportunities that fit with the overall business strategy and market sectors to enable the company to grow in line with the business plan.

You will also lead on sector pipeline meetings, prepare and distribute suitable minutes / actions to discuss current and future opportunities.

The role may require you to travel to various project sites and have flexibility to work extended hours as needed. The primary locations for this role will be either Swindon or London.

Due to my client’s business expansion, they are seeking a Senior Estimator.  As a Senior Estimator, you will be working on civil engineering tenders, developing precise and competitive estimates for projects involving roads, sewers, drainage, utilities, and reinforced concrete structures.

They are one of the biggest family owned construction businesses in the UK with a turnover close to £500m per year

 Here are some of the activities you will be involved with:

  • Review tender requirements, focusing on scope of works, attending site visits and collaborating with the Bid and Operational Support Teams, coordinating with Estimating Buyer on material costs and subcontractor quotes.
  • Support the Estimators and Junior members of the team in preparing and comparing detailed subcontractor pricing packages.
  • Submit technical queries to clients for tender clarity and review client pricing schedules to ensure alignment with scope.
  • Conduct take-offs as needed for Bill of Quantities or Activity Schedules.
  • Prepare estimates for in-house work and assess subcontractor quotes for specialist tasks
  • Draft bid assumptions, qualifications, and exclusions and identify project risks, compile risk register, and review utility and geotechnical data.
  • Finalise and include pricing documents (e.g., Schedule of Costs, Daywork Rates).
  • Attend post-tender meetings, respond to pricing queries, and track submission updates.
  • Prepare pricing handover file and brief Operations Team on tender details.
