Lead Health & Safety Advisor

My client is a well-established, privately owned construction and infrastructure company in the UK. They provide a range of services, primarily focused on utilities (water, wastewater, energy, and telecoms), civil engineering, and traffic management.

They have an opportunity for a qualified Lead Health & Safety Advisor to join their team working in their Southern Water Contract.

The Role:

My client are a company that will help you to inspire and help their busy operational teams execute their work consistently, using “best in class” health and safety practices. You’ll be left to decide how best to do this.

You’ll be supported and encouraged to naturally observe to understand the operational challenges your colleagues face on site. You’ll be looking for practical H&S solutions and helpful advice delivered in a style that motivates your audience.

You’ll be encourage you to create communications strategies which resonate and inspire from in-person conversations.

If you enjoy operating in a fast-paced and sometimes transient working environment, which is not restricted to a single or enclosed site, then here are just some of the activities you’ll be getting involved with:

  • Managing and executing site inspections
  • Advising on and setting Operational team safety objectives
  • Supporting and undertaking investigations into accidents and incidents
  • Contributing to new tenders and bids
  • Assessing external environments for safe working
  • Identifying any gaps in the H&S management system; recommending improvements
  • Developing and implementing new initiatives or sharing best practice with colleagues
  • Advising on and communicating new working practices in line with any new legislative requirements or best practice
  • Promoting and supporting our behavioural/culture change program – ThinkSafe
  • Actively encouraging Safety Observations and Hazard Reporting

Experience leading a team of H&S Advisors, professional, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Originality as well as H&S expertise are all essential for success in this role. They will be looking for you to demonstrate an innovative approach to H&S problem solving, along with significant experience in a H&S advisory role, underpinned by a thorough understanding of current HSE legislation.

Holding or working towards a Level 6 H&S Diploma with the appropriate professional membership, IOSH/IIRSM or equivalent, is required.

Relevant industry experience would be highly advantageous.

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Due to the recent award of Highways Maintenance Frameworks in the West Sussex region, our client, a top Regional Main Contractor are seeking to secure the services of an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide support to the Commercial Team.

Works on the framework include Minor Road Reconstruction, Paving Improvements, Drainage Upgrades, Surfacing and other works.

Daily duties will include pricing schemes and overseeing them on all Commercial aspects including cost reporting and variations.

To be considered, you will have a minimum of an HNC in Quantity Surveying and will have solid Civil Engineering and ideally Highways Maintenance experience gained with Main Contractors.

In return, an excellent day rate is on offer along with an immediate start and ongoing contract.
