MEP QUANTITY SURVEYOR

As the MEP Quantity Surveyor you will manage the cost and contract management aspects of MEP work packages within the project from initiation to close-out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and sub- contractors
  • Administer incentivisation arrangements as appropriate
  • Support the assessment of EWN’s and compensation events
  • Provide regular cash flow forecast of expenditure for package
  • Report expenditure against the package budget on a monthly basis
  • Support the change management process in conjunction with other functions
  • Input to the monthly consolidated project-wide cost / expenditure report
  • Assess potential contractor and supplier claims and make recommendations for settlement.
  • Finalise contractor’s accounts and close out contracts for the project.
  • Raising consultant, supplier or contractor instructions as necessary for signature by approved parties.
  • Report on the expenditure of financial contingency built into the relevant packages.
  • Provide schedules of rates and commercial input to tender documentation
  • Undertake cost analysis of bid returns
  • Assist the package project manager in resolving all financial commercial issues arising in the tender return
  • Support the negotiation of two stage fixed price for relevant tenders
  • Receive and review monthly valuations from contractors and prepare recommendation for signature by the project manager and designer
  • Review all instructions issued by the project manager for cost implications
  • Support the change control process and assist in identifying the cost implications of any proposed changes
  • Support the project manager in the resolution of any claims and disputes as may arise with the contractor

Qualifications, Certifications & Experience

  • Relevant experience of commercial management of MEP packages in medium or bi.
  • Past experience of construction projects
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
  • Charter RICS or similar
  • Past experience of major projects
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of commercial management
  • Familiarity with various forms of NEC contract
  • Good IT skills especially excel and commercial software
  • Previous experience of working in the M&E environment
  • Worked on NEC 3 option C

Health & Safety Advisor

Due to an increase in work on their HS2 Multi Utility Framework (Gas, Water & Electric) in Birmingham, our client, a top Utility and Civil Engineering provider seek to secure the services of a Health & Safety Advisor to support on these works.

Based from their offices in Birmingham and attending sites in the area, duties will include reviewing and approving Risk Assessments and Method Statements, Conduct site investigations, approve temporary works in terms of safety, deliver project safety inductions and undertake random D&A tests etc.

To be considered, you must have NEBOSH and ideally EUSR and SHEA with tarining provided for this if required. You will also be a member of IOSH. You will have solid working knowledge of Utilities and UK H&S Legislation and have solid public relation experience.

Receptionist-Solihull – to £13.50 per hour

Our client, a top Infrastructure Contractor in the UK are seeking the services of a Receptionist to support the team on a major Highway improvement scheme near Solihull. Daily duties will include:

  • Provide Reception & Admin support to the operational project team as required
  • Stock controller for all office supplies
  • Assisting with the role of plant controller within our finance system.
  • Entering weekly timesheets for Operated Plant
  • On and Off hiring plant
  • Extending hires as required
  • Attend weekly meeting and taking notes
  • Receipting material deliveries
  • Maintaining the site asset register
  • Ad hoc duties as required

To be considered for this role you will have experience in this field and have solid IT skills in Word, Excel and Powerpoint.  Good interpersonal skills are also important. If you have previous construction experience this would be great but is not essential.

In return an immediate start and good rate is on offer along. 6-7 hours per day so flexibility is on offer.
