Our client, a world renowned Main Contractor within the Infrastructure sector are looking to secure the services of a Materials and Methods Engineer for a major scheme they have in North Wales which is valued at over £350m and includes Tunnelling and Civils works.
Duties associated with this role include:
- Review the requirements outlined in the Works Information.
- Assess the specification and design concerning environmental and sustainability constraints, and their integration into material requirements.
- Provide guidance on necessary deviations, value engineering, and amendments to requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate the materials specifications, ITP requirements, and approvals for specialist supplier materials (MAF).
- Cooperation and advice of the environmental carbon team to meet carbon targets.
- Review and refine delivery strategy and logistic constraints for concrete, earthworks and other bulk materials.
- Review and detailed definition of testing facilities on-site/off-site.
- Review and refine the testing procurement strategy; provide support in selecting subcontractors and developing contracts.
- Develop templates for testing and technical assurance.
- Review and advise on technical assurance requirements, procedures, templates, and documents for the project.
- Engage with the supply chain and subcontractors, and support the engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
To be considered for this role you will have the below:
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a related science field, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in material testing and manufacturing assurance is advisable.
- Experience in Civil, MEP, and High Voltage construction methods is required.
- Qualifications under the CSCS Card system are advisable.
- Familiarity with Electronic Management Document Systems (EDMS), such as Themis, ProjectWise, Aconex, BIM360.

They are looking to expand their Work Winning team with skilled and enthusiastic individuals to deliver various tenders across the UK.
The team are now looking for a Senior Estimator to join them on a permanent basis. You will support with the preparations of detailed and accurate pricing for tenders and assist clients with pricing support for early contractor involvement projects.
You will ensure company governance procedures are followed at all times and work in coordination with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive pricing. You will be required to agree methodologies and outputs for key activities with planners and, where appropriate, with Bid Manager / Design Manger and provide advice to Bid Manager/Design Manager on most cost-effective design options.
The role requires you to produce competitive price using methodologies and outputs etc to suit conditions / situations relevant to the scheme and advise the Bid Manager of sufficiency of client bill of quantity / activity schedule and arrange for full quantity take off or checking as required.
It is essential that you have sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques and of relevant procurement legislation.
Commercial awareness of different forms of contracts is also required along with a detailed knowledge of estimating software packages.

The team are now looking for an Underground Works/Preparation Methods Engineer to join their business on a Full Time employed basis
This role is pivotal in the preparation and submission of tenders for large-scale underground construction projects and will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing engineering projects focused on tunnel and underground constructions, ensuring deliverables are met within the specified timelines and budgets.
You will prepare technical proposals and work plans, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies and collaborate with the project management and business development teams to ensure compliance with client requirements.
You will also be required to provide technical support and guidance during pre-bid meetings and client presentations.
It is essential that you have a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in underground construction projects with a focus on tender preparation.

The project requires a Design Engineer (Design Coordination) to manage consult design activities and deliverables to ensure they are completed in line with the agreed programme and Client requirements.
You will be the technical lead for the permanent works design on the project unless a Design Manager is present.
You will be responsible for managing and communicating all design queries, comments and information required from design workshops and meetings and keep records accordingly. Within the role you will arrange internal design interface meetings with the construction department and ensure compliance with design management processes as required by the contract.
Within this role, you will be required to have a background or previous experience in design management. Technical knowledge of civil engineering/construction would also be beneficial.
You will have a comprehensive communication and organisation skills and the ability to engage with consultants, clients and other bodies as appropriate.
You must be able to work collaboratively, setting and acting upon clear and realistic goals and objectives. The ability to use your own initiative, question assumptions and learn from and share experiences is also essential for this role.

The project requires a Quality Engineer to support the implementing, maintaining and improvement of the Project Management System providing support and advice to the Project team on quality management matters.
You will be required to interpret and advise on quality system requirements for the Project while utilising quality management tools and techniques to promote continuous improvements throughout the Project team. You will coordinate with the Client’s quality management team and undertake internal project audits and supplier audits as and when necessary.
This role requires you to have previous experience of working as a Section Engineer as a minimum and preferably working towards membership to the Chartered Quality Institute and successful completion of lead auditor course (5 day) for ISO 9001.
You must have a thorough understanding of civil engineering construction methodology and a detailed knowledge of assurance and management system issues and a good understanding of process mapping techniques.
Strong practical knowledge and expertise in the implementation and on-going development of management systems, based on recognised standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or BS OHSAS 18001 is beneficial for this role.

The project requires a Surveyor who will be responsible for the monitoring and surveying activities on site in a safe and efficient way.
If this role is for you, you will liaise with the client to check the setting out information being used is the latest available and provide the existing site control to the construction team, and / or establishing site control where required.
The role will require you to ensure data, reports and/or drawings of setting out and as-built surveys are produced accurately and in a timely manner and ensure difficult setting out tasks and dimensional check of elements are delivered with high accuracy requirements.
It is essential that you have a Civil Engineering Degree or similar with at least 3 years of experience. Advanced geodetic surveying and deformation monitoring skills are also required.
You will need to apply technical and practical skills to implement the requirements of drawings and specifications and ensure work is produced within clear guidelines, set goals and strive to achieve required results consistently.
You must have good knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work and have the ability to prioritise objectives and capable of completing work to deadlines.

Tunnel Engineer (Shift)

My client are seeking multiple Tunnelling Site / Shift Engineers on their Snowdonia Visual Improvement Tunnel project in North Wales. The project is due to operate a 2-shift pattern and a shift premium will apply.
The project will consider candidates with different levels of experience and you do not have to have tunnelling experience but this is desirable.
You will be involved in the development of work plans, temporary work conception, manage and optimise the construction of TBM-driven tunnels from installation to demobilisation. To ensure health and safety is given the highest priority in the delivery of the works.
It will be essential that you have an Engineering Degree/Higher National Certificate (HNC) or similar in a construction discipline. You will also have substantial experience with onsite experience within the Civil Construction Industry.

The project requires an on-site Human Resources Advisor to adopt the first line contact and support for all project resources on HR and employee relations matters. You will be required to advise, support, influence and where appropriate, challenge managers on operational decisions to facilitate their following of HR best practice in activities including: recruitment, disciplinary, grievance, induction and training. You will take the lead on championing Equality, Diversity and Respect on the project and will have experience in working in a single site HR Advisor role or a small cluster role.
About you
You should be qualified to at least a Level 3 CIPD qualification and be able to demonstrate a proven track record in managing a wide variety of HR related issues. You must be confident in building strong credible relationships with managers, acting as a mentor when advising on all people issues, plans and strategies where appropriate.
Previous experience of working in a Civil Engineering/Tunnelling organisation is desirable but not essential.

Quantity Surveyor
My client has been awarded a GBP 207 million (EUR 240 million) power supply tunnel project by National Grid in Wales. The project is part of the Visual Impact Provision project in the Snowdonia National Park near Porthmadog in the north of the country.
This seven-year project will see the construction of two shafts and 3.4 kilometres tunnel to carry electricity under the Dwyryd Estuary. The project has been developed to reduce the visual impact of National Grid’s overhead line across the estuary. The project will run into 2029.
My client would like a QS with a couple of years experience, preferably project-based experience with CSCS card.
