Assistant Quantity Surveyor

My client are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team In Farnham working on a recently awarded 5 year framework.  You will play a pivotal role in achieving their vision of delivering brilliant infrastructure solutions whilst developing your career in quantity surveying within a supportive and professional environment.

You will be assisting in the management of commercial responsibilities in order to maximise profit and control costs.

 Here are some of the activities you will be involved in…

  • Produce weekly and monthly cost value reconciliations.
  • Capture and allocate costs and liabilities.
  • Maintain long-term relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Manage opportunities and risks, identifying deviations from working practices.
  • Assist in developing commercial tenders, offers, and contracts.
  • Identify and escalate inappropriate costs.
  • Record and track insurance claims.
  • Maintain accurate contract data and records.
  • Capturing and report direct labour payments; draft and award sub-contracts.
  • Sharing best practices for continuous improvement.

Please get in touch if you have a relevant degree in construction or commercial management and experience in subcontractor management. You should have a strong commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of NEC3 forms of contract, as well as relevant construction and contract law. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with advanced Excel skills.

You should also have the ability to prioritise your own workload, act collaboratively, and inspire others to do the same. You should be proactive in identifying and promptly escalating issues, demonstrating resilience in the face of setbacks, taking personal responsibility for resolving problems. Along with positively challenging situations and providing clear commercial information.

Site Supervisor

My client is seeking a skilled Supervisor to join their business working on a recently awarded framework.

They are seeking an accomplished Supervisor who thrives on change and embraces challenges including Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, Fleet, Operational Delivery, and Customer Experience, your primary focus will be on managing people and performance, and they anticipate that you’ll be eager to identify areas for improvement in work practices and service performance once you’ve settled into the role.

The role

  • Inspiring and leading operational teams to prioritise safety in all activities.
  • Ensuring that teams receive adequate training to meet competency and compliance standards.
  • Promoting a culture of “right first time” to reduce customer complaints.
  • Proactively managing future works and programs to minimise disruptions and preventable mistakes.
  • Reviewing and approving contractor method statements and risk assessments.
  • Conducting regular safety audits to identify hazards and implement necessary controls.
  • Managing vehicles and drivers to adhere to driving standards policies and the highway code.

If you have exceptional people management and delivery skills coupled with excellent communication abilities along with diplomacy, and the ability to make independent decisions, as you will often need to balance client expectations with contractual requirements and business priorities.

Experience in a similar role in the utilities/gas, ideally with a health and safety qualification such as IOSH.

A valid Streetworks accreditation is required for this role to ensure compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, a current Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification is essential, reflecting your knowledge of health and safety requirements and site management practices.  A Full UK Driving Licence is also necessary.

SITE ENGINEER

My client requires a Site Manager to assist them on their works in and around Surrey and Hampshire, Specifically Winchester, Redding and Woking.

  • Ensure all work complies with relevant H&S and environmental legislation and NRSWA specifications
  • Highlight non-conformities, escalating when required
  • Lead and manage your team and ensure they receive high quality training and mentoring, that supports their development, setting them up for success and enabling them to make their best contribution
  • Promote and drive continual improvement and innovative ideas
  • Proactively manage schedules to minimise disruption and preventable mistakes

The candidate will require experience working in a similar role within the gas/utility/construction/service environment/infrastructure environment at site management level as well as holding a Streetworks (NRSWA) Supervisor accreditation and SSSTS/SMSTS. It is also important you have a full UK driving license.
