SITE ENGINEER

Site Engineer (Rail / PTS)

Site Engineer required to initially work on Station Upgrade works at Basilson Station.
As a Site Engineer, you will oversee the daily management of construction and civil engineering activities for rail infrastructure projects. The successful candidate must hold experience of heavy piling works associated with major civils schemes.  Typical works involve bridge reconstruction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms, access for all), and flood repair and alleviation.

Heavy piling experience and PTS (Personal track safety) are essential.

 Requirements

  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering.
  • Proven setting out experience with a strong understanding of surveying principles.
  • Ability to accurately interpret contract drawings and specifications.
  • Experience managing on-site dimensional control.
  • Supervision and management of labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Experience in maintaining detailed progress and quality control records.
  • Prior experience in weekly planning for site work, including managing associated documentation like Inspection Test Plans and Work Package Plans.

SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

A well-established Structural Engineering consultancy based in Takeley, Essex, delivering innovative, practical, and cost-effective structural engineering solutions across domestic and commercial sectors.  The Role
We’re seeking an experienced and driven Senior Structural Engineer to lead and deliver a wide range of structural projects from concept through to completion. You will play a key role in both the technical and client-facing aspects of the business, working across residential refurbishments, extensions, and new builds, as well as commercial and mixed-use developments.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of structural projects (steel, concrete, timber, and masonry)
  • Conduct structural assessments, surveys, and reports for domestic and commercial properties
  • Liaise with architects, contractors, developers, and local authorities
  • Supervise junior engineers and technicians, providing mentorship and technical guidance
  • Ensure all work complies with current building regulations and codes of practice
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications using industry-standard software

 What We’re Looking For

  • Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (MEng or BEng)
  • Chartered or working towards chartership (IStructE or ICE)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in structural engineering
  • Strong background in both domestic and commercial projects
  • Proficient in design software such as Tekla, Tedds, AutoCAD, and Revit
  • Excellent communication and client liaison skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Full UK driving licence

Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor (Hybrid)

Are you a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for a new challenge? My client is a leading Tier 1, Main Contractor

My client has been awarded the first phase of the £27m Highways scheme in Essex.  This will include the construction of a Dual Carriageway and will include the construction of a new roundabout, and the associated civils works too

 The role:

  • Manage the financial and contractual performance of projects.
  • Oversee projects’ financial performance, ensuring profit targets and efficiency savings are achieved.
  • Adhere to contractual timescales and administer change control.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities effectively.
  • Conduct compliant procurement processes and selections.
  • Deal with commercial queries and advise on legal matters.
  • Effectively manage the Supply Chain and conduct audits.
  • Monitor project progress, maintain accurate financial logs, and prepare reports.
  • Ensure compliance with assurance processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Build strong relationships with project teams, clients, and commercial team members.
  • Coach and support junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and development.

 About you:

  • Proven success in Quantity Surveying role.
  • Experience in a civil engineering environment, preferably Highways.
  • NEC contract knowledge.
  • IT proficiency and familiarity with cost management software.
  • Knowledge of cost performance monitoring and contract administration.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent).
  • Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CICES) and CSCS card (desirable).
